Purpose Used to detect bilirubin in urine.
Ingredients Iodine, methyl alcohol.
Working Principle
Warnings, Precautions, Recommendations Danger. Highly flammable liquid and vapor. Toxic if swallowed, in contact with skin, or inhaled. Causes damage to organs. Keep away from heat/sparks/flames/hot surfaces. – No smoking. Keep container tightly closed. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. IF ON SKIN (or hair): Immediately remove all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower. IF EXPOSED: CALL THE NATIONAL POISON CONTROL CENTER AT 114 or a doctor/physician. Dispose of contents/container in accordance with national regulations.
Application 1. Place 4-5 mL of urine in a test tube.
2. Add 1 mL of Rosin Trousseau Separator (GBL Stock Code 453127020500) by slowly pouring it down the side of the tube so that it forms a layer on top.
3. A green ring appearing at the junction of the urine and separator layers indicates the presence of bilirubin in the urine.
Theoretical Results

The appearance of a green ring at the junction of the urine and reagent layers indicates the presence of bilirubin in the urine.
