Title Description
REF No 7012
Purpose It is used for the determination of total hardness in waters with low alkalinity.
Ingredients Methyl red, eriochrome black T, ethanol 96%, etta disodium salt, magnesium chloride, tris base, triethanolamine.
Working Principle
Warnings, Precautions, Recommendations Not classified as hazardous according to the Regulation on SEA of Substances or Mixtures (OG 11.12.2013 No: 28848 bis) and Directive 1272&2008 [CLP/GHS](EC).
Application 1) Take the 20 ml measured transparent container from the set box.
2) Add the water sample to be analysed up to the 5 ml mark.
3) Total Hardness Test without Alkalinity; 1 drop is added and mixed by holding the dropper mouth of the titrimetry bottle at a right angle of 90 degrees. Care should be taken to ensure that the drops do not have air bubbles.
4) If a red-pink colour is formed, continue to add dropwise the Total Hardness Test Kit without Alkalinity; titrimetric.
5) Stir after each drop.
6) Continue dripping until the colour turns bluish green.
7) When a bluish green colour is formed, the titration is terminated.
Theoretical Results
The number of drops spent gives the total hardness of the water sample.
1 Drop = 1 AS (GERMAN HARDNESS) = 10 mg/l CaO = 1,79 FS
Hardness Presence Pinkish red. End Point Bluish green
