Purpose It is used to detect the presence of ammonia.
Ingredients Potassium iodide, potassium hydroxide, mercury (II) chloride.
Working Principle
Warnings, Precautions, Recommendations Danger Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. Suspected of causing genetic damage. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. If swallowed: Rinse mouth. DO NOT attempt to void. IF IN CONTACT WITH SKIN (or hair): Immediately remove all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower: INHALATION: Remove the affected person to fresh air and keep in a comfortable position so that he/she can breathe easily. IN CASE OF CONTACT WITH EYES: Rinse carefully with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if fitted and easy to do so. Continue rinsing.
Application 1. Add 2 ml of reagent to 50 ml of sample. If ammonia is present, a brick red color is produced.
Theoretical Results

In the presence of ammonia, a brick red color occurs.
