Title Description
REF No 3546
Purpose It is used to measure the amount of hemoglobin in the blood.
Ingredients Hydrochloric acid, sodium azide.
Working Principle
Warnings, Precautions, Recommendations No labeling is required according to the Regulation on SEA of Substances or Mixtures (OG 11.12.2013 No: 28848 bis) and Directive 1272&2008 [CLP/GHS](EC).
Application 1. Add Sahli Hemoglobin Counting Solution (GBL Stock Code 453546020500) to the graduated test tube to the 10% line.
2. Wipe the blood collection site with alcohol and allow to dry for a short time.
3. Make a small incision in the area where blood will be drawn.
4. The first drop of blood is wiped off. The second drop of blood is drawn into the hemoglobin pipette up to the 0.02 ml mark without any air bubbles and the blood smear on the tip of the pipette is wiped with cotton or gauze.
5. The gauze is then gently pressed against the blood collection site until the blood stops.
6. Pour the blood from the hemoglobin pipette into Sahli Hemoglobin Counting Solution (GBL Stock Code 453546020500) in a graduated tube. Draw Sahli Hemoglobin Counting Solution into the pipette several times to completely empty the pipette and blow again to empty the pipette into the tube. Wait for a few minutes for the hemoglobin to convert to acid hematin with hydrochloric acid.
7. Add distilled water dropwise to the mixture in the tube and mix.
8. Continue reconstitution until the color of the mixture in the tube is the standard color on both sides of the hemoglobinometer.
9. The hemoglobin that matches the level of the fluid in the hemoglobinometer tube is read in % or grams. 100% hemoglobin means 16 grams/deciliter (g/dl) hemoglobin.
10. Since hemoglobin converts to acid hematin in the first few minutes, the test should be completed without prolonged waiting. In daylight and at eye level, the hemoglobin is read against the level of the fluid in the tube and the result is reported as % grams per deciliter (g/dl).
Theoretical Results

The color intensity in the hemoglobinometer is proportional to the amount of hemoglobin in the blood.
