Caution. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection. IN CASE OF CONTACT WITH EYES: Rinse with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if fitted and easy to do so. Continue rinsing. |
| Application
|
1. Add 8 drops (0.05 ml) of urine to 5 ml of Benedict's Solution Qualitative (GBL Stock Code 453689020500) reagent.
2. Bring to the boil and keep in a boiling water bath for 5 minutes. If the glucose concentration is only 0.1% or less, the precipitate will only be visible after cooling.
3. If the resulting colour is blue or cloudy green, the result is negative.
4. If it is yellow-green in colour, it is + and indicates less than 0.5% glucose. It may appear after cooling.
5. Greenish-yellow colour is +++ and means 0.5-1% glucose.
6. Yellow colour is considered ++++ and means 1-2% glucose.
7. An orange or red colour is considered ++++ and means that more than 2% glucose is present. |
